TBD firewire 800 makes G-Drive invisible !

My 500 GB G-Drive works perfectly connected by USB2 to my 2011 13" maxed out MacBook Air. Today I connected it to my new TBD -- Firewire 800 to Firewire 800 -- and the G-Drive is invisible.

Ideas or suggestions, please?
