Okay, so I want to rip my film collection onto my Mac. I want to keep the VOB. But I also want a compressed format that I can play in iTunes. I also wana be able to put them onto a USB stick and play on a T.V. but still retain all the quality of a disk. How the heck do I do all this?

I would suggest putting the DVD/BluRay in your Mac first...and USB flash drive to play movies? No you need to hook your computer up to the TV via HDMI, even if your TV supports USB play back things can get bogged up fast. Also an uncompressed DVD is like 4-8gigs...you'd need a large flash drive.... Just use HandBrake (free software) to convert the DVD or whatever so long as its not protected into an .Mkv format and pay close attention to the bitrate, file size, video settings, resolution, and of course audio settings. If it is protected you'll need something like AnyDVD which I haven't use in ages as I cannot stand DVD's crappy resolution in comparison to my near all HD movie collection.
