Evening folks, hope your all doing well.

I'm a little frustrated because I cant even install google assistant on my used lenovo laptop. My friend makes it sound so easy and sent me a how to video, but I still run into road blocks. 🤕 I just don't get it, and Ive read apple products are easier to use so I hope I can get some recommendations on what to buy from you kind folks.

I'm 57 and mainly use my laptop for research on how to's for maintaining my possessions investments retirement etc etc. I research everything.. But I'll need rotator cuff surgery soon and must have voice recognition/dictation on my laptop just like my new iphone SE because my arm will be in a sling for over a month. One of my laptop's shift keys doesn't work, and I still own a tube TV..😁

But considering I ended my TV service because it's just back ground noise while I'm researching, it would be great to cast online movies, or even cast the entire computer screen wirelessly to a big dumb TV using a apple box. Maybe I don't need a laptop and just a wireless key board? Or just a 13" screen instead of a 16?

So there you have it, and I'm the buy once cry once type, so please give me recommendations on gear that will cover my needs for years to come.

Thanks!

Is your only use case video?
I'm not sure what your asking here..

I need a regular key board, not touch. And a device that sits on my lap because I'll only have one arm.

I was thinking a macbook, but not sure which one and apple box plugged into a dumb tv.

Thanks

I'm asking what will you be using your device for. Is it only for watching videos because that's all you've mentioned so far?

Honestly I would say an iPad might be a better fit. I don't have a keyboard for my iPad and use voice dictation constantly.

I think people are getting confused by your need to use a keyboard AND voice dictation. Am i right in thinking that the voice dictation is needed for the here and now but the use of a keyboard is for future proofing years ahead. Am i correct on this?

When I use siri dictation for texts, she sometimes misunderstands and I have to correct the text with the touch pad, which is difficult because there are no keys of a keyboard to feel on my iphone touch pad. That's why I want a regular button laptop or desk top keyboard with dictation.

crystal clear? 😅
