Anyone have this case? I like the case, but getting tired of the flip open style.. I would prefer that piece to be gone.

Has anyone had any luck modifying this case - cutting the flap off - to rid the flap?

Thoughts on this? even possible?

I tried it out at my local BB and that stupid clasp is annoying as hell to hold while the case is open. Wish they carried the classic shell with the flip and no wallet and clasp. If u really need the wallet try it out I guess but there are better options out there without that huge annoying plastic clasp.

I'm confused. You want the Tech 21 wallet case without the wallet front flap. Wouldn't that be just the basic Tech 21 case they have always offered?

Tech21 offers two cases with the flap; one with the wallet and the clasp to keep it from opening, and the classic shell which has a flap but no card slots and no clasp to keep it closed. Just the flap. I was saying I wish best buy stocked the latter.

I'm getting the Tech21 shell with cover later this week--I'll post some pics and report back here about it.

Not want, have.

Update - I cut the wallet side off of my case, used some Krazy glue to hold the back part down and voilà- a nice case. Cutting it was easy, stayed straight and didn't fray.

...that looks almost identical to the case I am currently using:

Proporta Ted Baker iPhone 6 Folio Case

The only difference (and better IMHO) is that the Proporta Ted Baker case has a magnetic flap so that the flap actually stays shut when you are not using the phone. The Proporta also looks slimmer than the Tech21 as well.

However the Tech 21 has D3O non Newtonian impactology drop protection in the case.

That makes the Tech 21 case the better case for protection. It's the Tech 21 brand.

The tech 21 flap stays closed for me? without any magnets, too. Only time it wouldn't stay closed is if you held it flap downwards on purpose to get it to fall open. Even when carrying it in the hand it naturally stays closed from having ur thumb on either side. IMHO, I prefer not having the magnets because when I wanna open it I don't have to use two hands I can just whip it open.

Yeah, I noticed the same thing about the Tech21 Shell with Cover's desire to stay closed--it is so easy to keep it closed, even with no clasp. Very nice--I really like the case.

I'm really considering this case now over my Ted Baker (link posted earlier).

Quick question: Does the flap get in the way when you hold it against the back of the case (i.e. when you are using the phone)?

With my Ted Baker case, because it is magnetic, the flap automatically sticks to the back as well so doesn't flap about!

There is no magnet, so if you aren't holding it, it will indeed 'flap about'. However, I generally find it pretty comfortable to hold it when folded back. I actually prefer the feel of the Tech21 Classic Shell Wallet with its cover folded back to the Tech21 Classic Shell with Cover with its cover folded back. The clasp on the wallet version provides a nice resting place for your hand, while on the shell with cover version, you just have the edge of the folio cover to hold, and it can feel less than comfortable if you are holding it for a longer period. Not terrible, but the feel of the wallet case folded back is better.

Bit in bold: ..yea, I am also considering this version as well (with the clasp) however there is one thing I don't get!

I hold my phones in the right hand - if using the Tech 21 wallet case with the clasp, then surely, when the flap part is folded back (when you are using the phone) against the back of the phone, the clasp part is going to be digging into your palm as you hold the phone - no?

Right hand? Hmm. I hold my phone in my left hand generally. What happens with the clasp is that the smooth curved outer edge of the plastic clasp rests comfortably against my middle and ring finger when I hold it in my left hand. When I hold it in my right hand, the plastic clasp rests against the fleshy part of my hand below the thumb. It doesn't cut into my palm at all, but I find it somewhat less comfortable than holding it in my left hand. Of course hand size matters here in terms of where on your hand the case will contact you. For the record, I have medium size ladies hands :)
Hope this helps!

..ok, thanks for that! I might try and find a shop where I can try these out. The Tech 21 with the clasp looks the better case as I think the Tech 21 with cover will have the cover falling open by itself whereas with the clasp, it will obviously stay shut.

The Tech21 Case with Cover stayed shut surprisingly well, given that there is no clasp, but I prefer the Tech21 Classic Wallet overall. Good luck!

Yup .. it does look good to the eye, I like it as well and I caution about heat buildup ... Apple likes the iPhone to blow off heat.

Having that flap open and always dealing with it is irksome to my thinking, and I want to plug and play into the Kenwood USB for road tunes.

I have the standard Tech 21 case for the impact issues and so far that is working well for me.

When ever Kenwood or some other after market party makes a Lightening USB port battery pack speaker case with an expandable microSD memory card slot to take 62 GB or what ever chips ... for unlimited video and music and books .. etc that the iPhone can use.

I will get that one for the road ... as it would be plug and play.

The Micro USB port ... is read as No Device and really really sucks to have around .. like the Mophie.

That was a very bad purchase for me despite getting it at 75% off .. and I thought well of it cause Apple Stores carried it on the shelf. Very disappointed in Apple over that scooching the pooch.

What a harsh lesson that was.

Well, I received my Tech 21 with cover case for my iPhone 6 and to be honest, its a case which is not for me.

The box lingo states 'a slim fitting case', however, I actually found that the case makes the phone look HUGE - almost the size of the iPhone 6+. Holding the case in my right hand, I could barely reach over to the far left of the screen with my thumb.

I don't like the way that the cover (the flap) just rests on the screen with no magnet but I do like the material used (its like a soft velvety material). I also don't like that when you fold the cover back on itself (i.e. when you use the phone one handed), the whole case feels massive because of the large gap between the flap and the back of the case. :(

I put this case against my current case (the Proporta Ted Baker case linked above), and the Ted Baker case would actually fit INSIDE the Tech 21  - the Tech 21 is indeed NOT very slim!

The overbearing factor which has made me stay with my Ted Baker case is the magnet on the flap which keeps the flap closed even when the case is held upside down and also when you fold the flap back against the back of the case - it again, sticks to the back of the case which makes the whole case feel slim (which it actually is).

The magnets on the Proporta Ted Baker case do sound superior--I'll have to see if I can get one of those to review.

As far as the 'slim' designation for the Tech21 cases, I think you have to put that into perspective as I think Tech21 is comparing itself to protective cases, not just cases in general. For a protective case, the Tech21 Case with Cover is pretty slim, but its layer of magic protective D3O impact gel and TPU around the edges of the case definitely adds significant bulk. Sorry it didn't work out for you!
