Not sure if I read that correctly:

If I'm upgrading from an iPhone 6 to a 7, should I expect better battery life, or the same?

Thanks!

Funny, I started reading all the reviews this morning, and ended up canceling my 7 Plus order. The Verge review summed it up for me nicely - faster, brighter, better camera, and battery lasts a little longer, but will you actually notice in daily use going from 6S Plus? Nope.

Maybe I'm finally getting too old to always chase the newest upgrade, because when I'm being honest with myself, it just makes absolutely no sense to throw a net of $600 at it. Especially since iPhone 8 will probably be the true upgrade.

Yes, you should expect about an extra 2 hours of battery life going from the iPhone 6 to the 7. About an extra 1 hour from the 6 to the 7 Plus.

And that's why it feels so liberating to drop my iPhone at the gym's desk, power on my Powerbeats2 and workout wirelessly to some Metal! They were bought for workouts, but I enjoy them so much that I've started using them somewhere else, i.e. at the beach, whereas I loathed doing that with wired headphones.

Ah right, I'm with you! That's great. I'm not too fond of Beats as I find the artificially louder bass tends to muddy a lot of metal music. Not that I'd ever peg Nile as having the cleanest production... but stuff like Nevermore/Dimmu tends to suffer a touch.

That said, I've never personally tried the Powerbeats2. Would you recommend? How's the general balance?

You're going to hold off for 3 years hoping for a "true upgrade" that may or may not be? Remember that the 5 was suppose to be a HUGE upgrade. Then the 6 was suppose to be HUGE. Then the 7 was suppose to be monumental. Now you think the 8 will be the big one.

Why buy a 2016 car when the 2017 will be better? But why buy the 2017 because the 2018 will be better. But the 2019 will be better than that so wait and buy that one. Don't waste your money on the 2019 cause the 2020 will be even better!

That type of logic about upgrades makes no sense.

The large battery and 3GB RAM might seem good on paper. But the larger screen and extra camera also need more ressources. Sure it will undoubtetly improve battery life and performance with everyday use (calling, mail etc.), but it's not as drastic as the numbers might suggest, when compared to the regular iPhone 7.

Inserting them deeply into the ear, there's much bass; it sounds tight, though, not all over the place.

As you move, they descend a little, and you lose some bass, ending up with a balanced mix of frequencies.

There may be better sounding options, and cheaper ones, but they're super-comfy and won't drop even with extreme movements. Also, they've just been updated to V3, featuring the W1 custom communication chip, so it's a good time to get them.

What are you talking about? 8 is coming out next year, how is that 3 years from 6S? This has nothing to do with always waiting another year, but rather waiting another 12 months for a major redsign. And according to every indication, 8 will be a generational shift. Is there a slight chance it won't happen? Yep. Will I loose any sleep over it? Nope.

EDIT: And 5 WAS a big update. 6/6+ was a HUGE update.

Better! 6 was roughly the same as 6S.

Pros:
More RAM
2x the Cameras
Bokeh (via software update)
Longer battery life
Possibly faster benchmarks
Larger resolution

Cons:
Bigger
Heavier
I'll need to buy a new car mount, case, dock

Extra resolution only requires negligible amounts of extra RAM. I believe it was something like 20 MBs or even less (Anandtech researched it back in 2014). And camera might use more RAM, but only when in use, so 7 Plus will be able to hold significantly more apps/tabs open).

The iphone7 doesn't seem like a must have upgrade for iphone6s users and for iphone5s/6 users, the iphone6s seems to be the better upgrade due to the price drop.
I like the new specs because it puts the smaller phone on better footing with iPhone 6S Plus, which is an incredible iPhone, in my opinion--just too honking huge for myself and some others. The only disappointment is the 326 ppi, but that is excusable in the interest of keeping power consumption bearable on the smaller device.

I would trade in my 6S Plus for the iPhone 7 to finally have almost everything I have been wanting in the smaller iPhone since the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus were first introduced.

I'm not happy about the headphone jack removal but my SE still has it and when/if I get my non exploding Note 7 back, that will have one, too. And there's always the lightning headphones. Grumble grumble.

I like how everyone just assumes that because there are iPhone 8 (2017) rumors a year and a half ahead of time they have to be true. Not singling you out, you are just the most recent to post something like that, but I have seen tons of people saying how the new redesigned iPhone 8 next year is worth the wait. Apple could just as easily be looking at those same features for the current cycle iPhone 8 (2018). I think many assume just because it is the 10th anniversary that it has to be huge. Not saying it won't happen, but so many people here are talking like it is 100% a sure thing when it isn't.

How was 5 a big upgrade, and yet 7 is considered incremental only?
Same with 6/6+. Bigger screens and a case redesign only. Everything else regarding the 6 was meh.

The 2017 iPhone hyperbole is getting nauseating. I think people are just using it to comfort themselves over the decision not to get the iPhone 7. Every new iPhone is going to be better than the previous iPhone and another version past that will be even better. If people are wetting themselves over the jet black iPhone this year then I can only imagine the mass underwear changing that is going to happen if Apple introduces edge to edge curved glass. It’s like cell phones have ceased to be a functional device and just became something to lustfully stare at.

I ordered the iPhone 7+ coming from an iPhone 6. I'm pretty excited for the upgrade. That being said, I hope whatever model everyone is waiting for next year is just a an 's' variation so everyone taking a dump on the 7 will have to eat their words. If it's some crazy upgrade I will probably order that too since I'm on the upgrade program, so I do hope something 'revolutionary' comes out. But if it doesn't I think it will be a fun day on the forums.

I guess I just don't understand all the hate for the phone. The 3.5mm jack missing I get. It won't effect me, but I understand the concerns. But people complaining about the design of the phone I don't understand. Cars, watches, appliances, other electronics, and other daily devices don't get drastically redesigned every other year. Why should we be so upset that the iPhone is holding onto a design that works and is improved? Had they come out with some other design and something happened (bendgate, antennagate) people would be in an uproar about it. You carry your phone every single day and depend on it to work and be efficient, what's wrong with a design that is refined?

To be honest, I wasn't hot on the 6 design when it came out. I've always felt the 5s was the best looking phone they designed, but the 6/7 is simple and it works. Like other iPhones, it looks good sitting on your desk not being used, like a nice piece of art or jewelry. And when you hold it, at least for me, it feels comfortable. The 7 continues that trend. My phone is for me, and no one else. What do I care if others don't know whether I have a 6/6s/7? I used to be more concerned about what the outside of my car looked like rather than the inside. Then I realized I sit in the car more than I look at it from the outside, so I want the inside to be the star of the show. That's how I feel about the iPhone 7. Classy, elegant, refined exterior, with upgraded internals that will compete with any other phone on the market.

I have an iPhone 4. Yes the legendary edition. I use it everyday, almost no scratches and it's still working absolutely fine. Unfortunately since two years I am unable to download almost any new apps, because I'm stuck in iOS 7 whch is no longer supported.

It's quite a bummer that I have to upgrade not because of hardware problems, but because Apple decided to abandon my operating system.

So, I'm debating wether to buy the 7 plus or wait for the new generation next year.

being the RAM integrated in the A10 SoC, i wonder if they really produce two different versions of it (one with 2gb, one with 3gb ram) or if they cap it afterwards in some ways.

also, can someone explain why 3GB? isn't all ram usually in sizes of 2^n bits ? (that is, either 2 or 4gb)
