For the love of all that is good a right - NO! Season 3 ended on a high note. All loose ends tied up. All character arcs closed. What can they possibly do in season 4 that will make it interesting to watch?

There is good potential for sustaining the interest in the story here:

“In the fourth season, Apple says Lasso returns to England to take on his biggest challenge yet: coaching a second division women's soccer team …”

I tried a few s1 eps, but never felt compelled to go back and finish the season - and I'm a soccer/optimism nerd. Just wasn't quite doing it for me back when I tried it on. Maybe I'll give it another whirl. Maybe [likely] not. Feel I missed that boat - for better or worse.

What made this show so good were the characters, if they remake it with a female soccer team, with mostly new characters it will not be as good.

3rd season was weak but it ended the show nicely. This did not need a 4th season. They should have done a spin off series instead.

Given that Ted lasso started off at high 9s then with second season at mid 8s, and the third with low 6s. I'd pass on fourth season unless they offer the free tv trial yet again. I'd rather rewatch though.

Season 1 was awesome.
The show jumped the shark early in season 2.
Season 3 was terrible.
Season 4 could be OK if they start fresh, but I wouldn't count on it.

Totally agree. With season 1, it was so refreshing to watch a show about a genuinely good, likeable character, as he turned the other cheek to all the greed, ego and revenge going on around him. Somehow they lost that magic as the show progressed.

Quite likely Apple is trying to take advantage of the WC2026 in one way or another, story-wise, timing or smth else.The show feels like an SNL skit that ran out of ideas after the first two-three segments.

So much hate in this thread, this is one of my favorite "comfort" shows that I can always rewatch with no issue, well written, very funny and I am very much looking forward to S4, although S3 was so wrapped up i'm not sure where they are going to go with it.

Love to read more considered posts on MR. I'd say give it a fresh chance – but go to the end of at least the first season.
This show has heart and a depth that take a little while to take full effect.

You know how art is... one day a piece of art can move you completely. Another day it may not land. It can very much be viewer-mood dependent. It's super possible I wasn't in the right space to receive it when I was tried. Anyway...

This sounds like a terrible idea. I enjoyed it while it lasted but there is no reason at all to make a new season and certainly not one about a new team (female or otherwise).

Picking it up again after the way it ended is an interesting decision. Maybe next winter when I am stuck at home or sick again, I push play.

Then it should be a spin off, or a different show, if they're going to replace 90% of the characters. Also we watched the character arc or Ted, Becky, and the whole team grow together. Feels like a slap in the face to start that over with new characters. Most shows that have replaced a character tend to fail or at least get horrible reviews. Quick search and there are whole sites dedicated to character replacements and additions that caused failures. It's almost always the last season of a show, not because it was supposed to be.

Agreed. This is a huge disappointment. Let it sit for a while and then bring it back as like a "where are they now" in like 2040 or thereabouts. Kinda like Scrubs.

Actually the whole idea of a season 4 of this is giving me Scrubs season 9 vibes.
