The Ted Lasso season 4 premiere was Apple's most popular TV show debut to date, according to Nielsen viewing data Apple sent to Deadline. The show racked up 296.6 million viewing minutes in the United States across the August 4 and August 5 launch window. It beat the premieres of prior seasons of Ted Lasso, plus the Severance and Pluribus premieres.

On just August 5, the first episode was the most-streamed program in the United States with more than 200 million viewing minutes.

Season 4 premiered more than three years after the season 3 finale aired, but the long break doesn't appear to have soured Ted Lasso fans. It initially seemed like season 3 might be the final season for the series, so a season 4 was more of a surprise than a wait.

In the fourth season, the show returns to its underdog roots with Ted Lasso moving back to Richmond to coach a second-division women's football team.

There are two episodes of season 4 available now, and new episodes come out every Wednesday.

Apple TV is priced at $12.99 per month, and it can be watched across Apple devices, on popular smart TVs, on set-top boxes like Roku, on gaming consoles, and on the web. Apple TV is also included in Apple One subscription bundles. New subscribers can get a seven-day free trial.

I thought both episodes should have been released last week. Episode 1 felt like a prolouge to the season while Episode 2 really got the direction of the season going. Overall though, I'm liking what I'm seeing, especially coach Chilton. Looking forward to seeing her chemistry with Ted grow.

I also decided to give Pluribus another shot. I stopped after episode 2 last year but with the awards and the fact that it is Gilligan and Seehorn, I want to give the entire season a fair shake.

They absolutely should have. It's getting to a point where live TV was a better experience than streaming, because double headers to kick off a season used to be the norm.
I wouldn't be surprised if the next step was bi-weekly episodes, after most of them already introduced ads…

4.2/10 user review on meta critic... not matching the apple fanboys here.... debating if ill watch
Considering that rating is from 24 self-selected people/bots, it's just as reliable as "the apple fanboys here" (or maybe less reliable than). None of the user reviews on metacritic left a written review, which also throws doubt into the validity of the rating.

The best way to settle it is to watch it. Or not, and ignore it.

I'm actually enjoying just having something linear to watch - having to wait for a certain night of the week to watch the next episode of a series was something I grew up with. It's rare these days that I start watching something at the time it's released.

Exactly. I haven't watched it because I tend to binge these, and haven't heard anyone say much about it. Its great that it seems to be popular, and hoping for the best when we do watch it that my concerns of the "why" behind it after the 3 season arc finished so well.
