Ted Lasso is such hokey show. There's Severance which is absolutely amazing and MacRumors never talks about it. WHY???
Severence is so painfully slow I can't handle it. It's borderline pretentious at best and nothing at all seems to happen for 90% of it. The last episode was good but every other episode could be 20mins long.
It feels like a student film which was given a budget.
Stay away from the greatest show ever made then; Better Call Saul.

While I like some of the Apple productions, including Lasso, modern television stinks. Go watch some of the classics, WKRP in Cincinnati, Sanford and Son, Cheers, Night Court, Firefly, Early seasons of 24, Married with Children, Are You Being Served, generation's 1 & 2 of Star Trek, Deep Space 9, MASH, Seinfeld, Johnny Carson, sane David Letterman. All different eras, genres, there are no shows like them anymore. Writing as an art form is dead.
If you can't find good shows now, it's probably because you're not looking very hard (or at all, really). There may not be as many lazily churned-out multicam sitcoms now as you're listing, but there are still lots of good shows. Here are some off the top of my head to get you started.

Bosch
Goliath
Bojack Horseman
Schitt's Creek
True Detective
Succession
Sneaky Pete
Fleabag
Always Sunny
Mindhunter
Atlanta
Ozark
Billions (early seasons)
Jessica Jones
Loki
WandaVision
The Bear
The Boys
Modern Family
Invincible
Barry
Only Murders in the Building

I'm sure there are others but you should have plenty here to get started.

Telling a joke without fear of upsetting someone is dead.
Plenty of good jokes out there still. If it's casual racism, sexism, homophobia, etc that you're after then yeah, that's gonna be harder to find, but it's still available if that's your cup of tea.

Look at the most successful television shows in history and you will find that they don’t use profanity. Either the writers are completely ignorant of this, or they are lazy, or both.
Breaking Bad, The Sopranos, Game Of Thrones, Six Feet Under, Twin Peaks, The Wire are all considered among the greatest shows of all time and all had swearing. Sure none of the great shows from before the era of ‘Peak TV’ on cable networks (basically from around the year 2000 onward) had swearing, but that’s because all those shows aired on broadcast networks where swearing wasn’t allowed. Thankfully we live in an era of having plenty of choice for scripted entertainment and you have every right to not watch something that upsets you.

I’d say you calling the writers lazy and/or ignorant just shows your own ignorance. Ignorance of the fact that many of the greatest shows have profanity and ignorance of the fact that millions of people use it in conversation every day.

I have seen all of those shows back when they were on the air. I even worked on a couple of those shows and one of them sucked. The writing was awful. I do agree otherwise. A lot of good shows in there. You could also add The West Wing, or just anything by Sorkin. Best writer in Hollywood. Who I believe was heavily influenced by MASH. As for telling a joke without upsetting someone... well, there were a lot of racist and misogynistic jokes on TV for a long time. I wouldn't want to go back to that. I watched Back to School a few years back and some of the jokes were cringe worthy to say the least. And don't get me started on Revenge of the Nerds. I guess we just have to accept that we are in a transition period where marginalized people, who were traditionally laughed off and made the butt of a joke, are now included and accepted as just part of regular society. Some don't like that status quo shaken, and just want to be nostalgic about the good old times but, I think it's good that we think about how our jokes can present a negative picture of groups and maybe not do that. There is still a lot of comedy to be created without hurtful humor. Especially when it is "punching Down" as it were. Bringing it back to Lasso... It's kinda why I love that show. It doesn't need to go negative. It doesn't need to upset people. It's funny, and delightful. Anyway, have a good one.

Yes, it seems slightly darker than the first 2 seasons, but seems like it’s laying the foundation for the series finale (which it is, so that makes sense)

i am afraid that 1st season magic is forever lost, wikl give it a chance, but do not expect such a lighthearted and feel good experience as with 1st season. Bith 2nd season and first episode of s3 are bit off, unfortunatelly.

I didn't waste time watching S03E01 today. While I think the show is good and seems to be a big hit, I think it could fare just as well without all the swearing dialogue all the time. Shrinking has the same problem with the dialogue. I find it's overuse gets to be distracting.
Considering this is predominately an English/UK, you should watch game shows like "8 out of 10 cats does countdown". So much swearing but it's actually funny. Some people look for reasons.

Personally, I will turn off anything that has the Southern Californian / Valley Girl talk. It's way worse than swearing, because it is pretentious and fake, trying to sound better than other people. Now that is distracting!

Or any Nordic Noir. But some people can't seem to get their heads around Subtitles. The Europeans do Crime way better than the US, because they don't use the exact same formulae every time. So tiring.

Love this show, shame if it ends in 3 seasons. This show is the one good thing in rather a dull and boring streaming service.

It doesn’t bother me that TV shows are released weekly on  TV+ or any streaming platform. I actually like the anticipation of what’s going to happen next week & talking about it with friends/family is good.

Back when I was working in the office & was watching season 3 of stranger things, I started talking to a colleague about it & they almost ruined it because they started talking about episodes that I hadn’t seen yet.

The way Netflix now releases half a season of a show then does the other half separately is annoying, though.

I don't think you realise how much Brits swear in day-to-day conversation haha

You're saying in your personal experience being around professional sports teams. that the amount of cursing in TL is excessive and unrealistic?

Watch any NHL game and when the camera is on the head coach or players faces, it's hard not to lip read an f-bomb.

Check out the Hallmark Channels. No cursing there... ;)

I hate the week to week model, but Netflix is the only service nowadays dropping whole seasons AFAIK. HBO, Disney, Prime, Showtime, Paramount etc all make us wait. People working remotely or not, the fact is that if a show is released weekly it gets attention over a longer period of time with online discussion thus keeping it in the zeigeist for longer. Netflix shows will drop a whole season, most people binge it and then it barely gets mentioned after a couple weeks.
I must be the only one that waits for the new Lasso to hit. And then sign up for a three month free promo to view it lol. 🤷🏻‍♂️

You better not be talking about WKPR or we’re fighting. 😉

I never watched West Wing or any of the other political based shows like it. Real politics are enough for me. There’s a ton of great shows on Netflix, HBO, etc. that never “aired“ in the traditional sense. I’m not grouping those in with my list. Network television is horrid.

As far as people being marginalized, it was done to show how stupid it was. People complain about Archie Bunker. Archie was played to show how wrong racism was, when it came down to doing the right thing Archie would. Those are the moments that made the show. Even Herb Tarlek had his moments.VAunt Esther was marginalized by Fred, but off screen Red and LaWanda were best friends. 😁

Totally agree with regard to Shrinking! Humorous show but IMHO, sends a bad message to teenagers, who may be viewing, that it's acceptable to say F you to a parent/other adult, or call them an A hole. "Oldster" here, lol, but I would never have made it to adulthood if I had used that kind of language around adults.

Whatever, the whole window promo for this show makes me press Ctrl + Q.
In this application, it could be possible to choose which sections you are interested in and which ones you are not.
Couldn't you just, like, not look at it?

am i loosing it? i thought i watched season 3 couple of years ago?
wasn't season 3 where there wasn't enough episodes are they are padded out with a couple that are a bit odd and only feature one character?

No one complains about Archie Bunker. That was satire and everyone knew it even at the time. Archie was funny because it gave people a racist moron to point and laugh at. If you watch weekend update on SNL you will see Colin and Michael use similar satire against each other. It's not humor that marginalizes people. It was specifically the opposite. Used to show how ridiculous racists and misogynists are. I was talking more abut characters like Apu on the Simpsons, or the the neighbor in breakfast at Tiffanys. Characters unironically based on a stereotype that marginalize groups based on race, gender, or sexual orientation. When we go back and watch some of those shows and movies, they are cringe worthy because we have realized how those jokes hurt people. Some people tend bristle when it's pointed out because they are nostalgic for the time when those jokes were acceptable. They think the jokes are harmless because they aren't the one being harmed. Anyway, you should check out the first 4 seasons of The West Wing... or any of Sorkin's other tv shows. They are getting a bit old now but they are some of the best writing for TV I've ever seen.

Thanks. I’ll wait the season and binge. Seems I’m doing that a lot lately. Normally they release 3 episodes and then weekly. I guess that’s the price of Emmy Awards.
I do that also. I wait until the whole season is done and then binge. I hate waiting a week to find out what happens LOL!.
