It could work if many of the recent records were won by improvements on the order of 0.01. I have no idea if that's the case.

In that case, I would agree with you.

According to this it doesn't seem to be the case (although they aren't up to date it seems).

But I'm bored of the 3x3x3 cube, I'm more impressed with the person who solved the 7x7x7 in 2:38.93 min.

    I've never owned one.

I may have handled one once or twice.

Depends on the initial position of the colors. Anyway, didn't these disappear with the ZX81?

Wow, that is impressive. I get hung up trying to put the stickers back on straight. :D

    amazing

So how old are these teens? I know that there is a way to solve this cube, but I never figured it out. It will take me more than 5 seconds to examine what colors are on each side... ahahah!

To be fair, in competitions the contestants are allowed a period to examine the cube. That's not taken into account in the records.

I finally figured out how to do it around Christmas time (the website has an easy-to-follow tutorial). I can usually do it in under 3 minutes now. Once you memorize a few simple patterns, it's easy to get times close to that. But these speed-cubers are on a whole different level.

In 1978 I become so frustrated that I smashed my Rubik's Cube with a Pet Rock.
