My dentist always asks me if I grind my teeth in my sleep.

Not that I am aware of.

But I do love a chew of gum after a meal.

i grind my teeth in my sleep to the point where my dentist insists i need to get a mouthpiece to wear at night.

but i do not like it, no.

I wish I could stop, but I have a bad teeth grinding problem. I do it most of the day and probably in my sleep (no idea if I do or not), and I fear for the well being of my teeth.

I hate grinding my teeth. It has caused me to have TMJ (don't ask me to give the clinical name) my jaw pops with every bite I take and sometimes if I yawn to wide my jaw will lock up for a second and then pop back which causes extreme pain.

My Dentist says I have the teeth of an 80 year old. I'm not an 80 year old.🙁

To the OP, I don't like it one bit, not sure why anyone would like it.

I've tried mouthpieces and almost every other idea out there but nothing's ever worked.

Yeah yeah but we all die anyway.

Does it really matter?

Well, if you don't mind that grinding your teeth can make you die earlier, then I guess it wouldn't matter to you. Its true, grinding can cause periodontal disease which can cause all kinds of serious health problems. If your teeth are loose, that is a sure sign that you are grinding and need to stop.

my dentist asked me that as well. She said the grinding is caused by pressure or stress and cannot be controlled (obviously...ur sleeping...).
She told me to see a shrink. These docs...pimping us patients out from one to another..

Anyways, if the grinding continues you can lose your teeth. Best to wear some sort of rubber mold for your teeth just in case.

I'm very confused by MBX 😀

I never thought I did it, certainly not consciously at least. But my girlfriend spotted me doing it one night during a stressful few months. I don't think I do it anymore, or she's just not telling me.

I used to grind my teeth something awful - and consistently wake up with headaches.

It stopped after a couple years into my braces - which seems that fixing my teeth also fixed the problem. Possibly coincidental, who knows..

My boyfriend grinds his teeth really bad it gives me the heebeejeebees. It'll wake me up from a dead sleep. Its gotten to the point where everytime I wake up I say 'stop grinding your teeth', even if he's not.

Seems like you're giving your BF a lot of stress 🙂

I used to grind my teeth all the time while I was sleeping. I would dream about having terrible jaw pain, and then wake up to muscle spasms. My mom told me to go to sleep with my tongue between my teeth. I did, and after waking myself up a few times, I stopped grinding my teeth.

My ex used to grind his teeth during the day. It was a habit he had developed after hard drug use.

i grind my teeth in my sleep. i think it's b/c i've been stressed out lately. i hope i stop someday though

i have been sleeping with a mouthguard i got at CVS the past couple of nights - going try this out for $25 instead of one from my dentist for $600.

I used to occasionally when stressed, I've recently learnt to stop myself slipping into the habit.
