Agree, all 64 bit devices will get iOS 11 (so 5s and newer, iPad Air and newer, iPad Mini 2 and newer and 6th gen iPod Touch). What happens after iOS 11 will be interesting... I can see Apple supporting A7 based devices for longer than the 5 year precedent that was set with the iPhone 4s (and technically a bit longer with the iPad 2) but I can also see them dumping older devices with 1 GB of RAM.iPhone 5s will get iOS 11, without a doubt, its iOS 12 that I am skeptical about. iOS 11 is only dropping 32bit devices.
I dont foresee the iPhone 6s getting 7 years of iOS. In 5 years from now, OS requirements will probably be 4GB RAM at minimum.I can see Apple supporting IPhone 5S next year. Apple usually give one more year of OS support for S Iphones models. It started with the 3GS, 4S and maybe the 5S will continue that pattern too. However , the IPhone 4S didn't end up well on IOS 9...
I think that IPhone 5S will hold up well IOS 11. But , if the IPhone 5s get iOS 12 in 2018, it will problably be like an iPhone 4S on iOS 9. The A7 processor has 1GB of Ram, 1.3ghz , 64 bit . It is enough for this year , but will it be enough to run well IOS 12? That's the question.
Apple dropped IPad 2 ,IPhone 4S from the line up before iOS 8 was released. And these devices got iOS 8 and 9.
IPad mini 2 (A7) was removed from the iPad line up this year . So, based on history, A7 devices will get 11,12.
The 6S will be able to run iOS 15 wow!!
If Apple supports iPhone 5S next year ,I don't doubt it that the 6S will get iOS 15.I dont foresee the iPhone 6s getting 7 years of iOS. In 5 years from now, OS requirements will probably be 4GB RAM at minimum.
Well that would still only be 6 years for iPhone 5s, 7 is a pretty big leap. That means the device would not be available for sale for 5 years but still be supported. I can only imagine as time goes on, more and more resources will be needed. If Apple supports iPhone 5S next year ,I don't doubt it that the 6S will get iOS 15.
The A8 will be supported only one more year when A7 gets dropped.I'm interested in iOS 12 as well. I can see it going either way for the A7. Gets trickier with the A8 and the iPod touch as well.
