It's minimal; really tiny. Yet it plagues me!

I know it's a byproduct of the thing being really new but it just drives me bonkers.

There's a scratch on the lid of my uMBP that's about half the size of an emoticon - it was created by the metal pocket clip of a pen when I secured the computer in a briefcase.

Please tell me I'm being ridiculous and it's the kind of thing I should just forget about.

Don't be extremely anal about the scratch on your uMBP case.

You did it. Live with it.

You are being ridiculous and it's the kind of thing you should just forget about.

P.S. I'm just being harsh. I'm on your side. I hate scratches. :(

I'm with you guys. I can't stand any imperfections on my stuff...it drives me nuts! I've learned to live with it on the iPhone though, because I refuse to case it and the back is a little knocked up from the drops:(

² same here. Especially hate (but on the other hand love) electronics stuff with a piano black glossy finish like my MSI Wind or my Samsung TV, those things gets scratches even quicker. If I see a new scratch, it makes me feel bad for some time depending on how big it is. But ah well, you gotta live with it, I get over it eventually :). It's stuff you use daily, not art or something which is on display, so scratches happen.

It's just not important enough to get that worked up about. Curse for 10 seconds, take a deep breath, then move on.

You seriously can't let things like that get to you for any length of time.

Is it a new laptop. Send it back and blame it on shipping.

whyd you put it in your briefcase with a pen(clip?) naked anyway?
get a case for it!

at least now it's unique, if it ever got stolen you'd know how to spot it out.
are you planning to resell it later or something?

When I opened up my computer, the first thing I noticed was the crooked lid. Then I saw the crooked hinge. Then the misaligned screws. Usually a replacement is in order.

However I have learned my time is way more valuable than to waste half a day at the Apple Store, so now I don't even notice those things.

It's more about you than the computer. Stop fixating on minuscule
imperfections, whether people or things.

Class dismissed lol.

you probably shouldn't look at my mbp then... I've been through 1 lower case replacement that cost me $600 to get fixed... and I still have SEVERAL scratches/dings on my top case... It's a computer.. It's meant to be used... I'm attaching a picture of what happens when you drop your computer in its bag when your ********d drunk

I put three deep scratches on my uMBP from my belt clip about two weeks after I got it and cursed for about 20 minutes then got over it! But I agree I hate when I scratch my things but oh well, if they are used on a regular basis then they are going to scratch!

It is only a $2000 laptop, not like a $100,000 car. If you want a laptop to be scratch free, but a second one and keep it stored away or maybe use some of that clear bra stuff they use on car and it should be scratch resistant.
