Okay which of the two attached files is from the highest bit rate file. I'm trying to see if I have made the best choice with my Handbrake settings 🙂.

If most of you get it wrong I know I've got good settings.

how exciting! i love blind taste tests!

i'm gonna say frodo.

however they both look great, no artifacts in either. its sort of hard to compare two totally different scenes, but the frodo looks THAT much better.

...i think....

Frodo.

How did you make the screen snaps?

I used Grab which is found in /Applications/Utilities (at least in Tiger).

The answer is Frodo is the best.

The video settings were :

Frodo

2500 kbps
H.264
Two pass encoding
Anamorphic

(the AppleTV preset in Handbrake)

Pippin (I think 🙂)

1800 kbps
MPEG-4
Two pass encoding
Anamorphic

(modified Bedlam preset in Handbrake)

So at the 2500kbps/H.264 rate, how big were the files in the end?

About 2GB per disk if I remember correctly.

Edit : I might try the lower bit rate version using H.264 and compare those two. Although I was trying to cut down encoding time by using MPEG-4.
