iPod Telling the difference between the 2007 iPod Classic & the late 2009 model

Hey Guys. Im intending on buying a iPod Classic within the next few days. However how do I tell the difference between the 160gb 2007 model and the late 2009 160gb model? The box? Size? Weight? 😕 Anything. Thanks will appreciate anything! 🙂

The 2007 model came in two models. The 160GB used a dual platter HD so was 3mm thicker than the single platter 80GB version.

The latest version uses a single platter 160GB HD, so is the same 10.5mm thickness as the original 80GB model. There was also a single platter 120 GB model released in-between.

The original 2007 classic featured a picture of Nelly Furtado on the box, the latest model features The Killers.

Two pretty big differences that are actually to do with the iPod are:
1. Genius mixes
2. Control by Headphones

Of course, you can go to Main menu>settings>about>model number.
