If you have already subscribed to Apple Music, make sure you cancel your subscription before trying to link your Apple ID and Telstra in the Music app.

It took me longer than I want to admit working this out...

How did you cancel the subscription? I logged into my account and turned off the auto-renew but it still says "You're already an Apple Music subscriber."

Just like iTunes match, you may need to call apple customer support to cancel current sub.

Or, if this sub could be provided as a long term service, you can enrol it after free trial of apple music ends. Then you can enjoy apple music in five seasons.

I too would like to know what happens if I want to continue my family plan and take up this offer? From what I can gather, you have to cancel your existing plan and the Telstra offer only lets you have access to the individual plan.

Yep, as Shirasaki said, either a call to Apple or wait until the 3 month free trial finishes so you can sign up again. Not the easiest of solutions.

Ah right. So just turning off the auto-renew doesn't actually cancel anything. Cheers all.

I didn't have to cancel my existing subscription to activate the Telstra subscription FWIW.
I activated it but when the text came with the link it quickly shows a "verifying membership" screen then disappears. If I sign out and bring up the screen to link my Apple ID to my Telstra account it says I'm already a subscriber.

I work for Telstra (I don’t represent them at all) and they have an option to select “Apple Music Data Offer” when signing people up to plans. Currently it’s red, meaning I can’t select it, but at least they’ve been thinking about it!! Hopefully it comes out in a promotion soon.

You can add it via the my account via add ons, per eligible mobile device, this is what I've found, so you can get the free trial for as many mobiles on your account, as the offer is activated per service, at this time Telstra doesn't have a family plan however more details and offers maybe released

I have confirmation, you cancel the auto renewal and after the 3 months the Telstra offer takes over
