It does...

Sweet Jesus! *shuts down in a panic*

Seriously though, there are so many ways in which the life expectancy of your machine dwindles through use, making your fans run a bit faster is seriously minimal on that scale.

As I pointed out, playing games regularly or using photoshop not only make your fans run at 6000rpm but also push your CPU and GPU much harder.

But thankfully these machines are (should be!) built to last at least a few years with all of the above considered, so don't worry too much about running your fans a bit higher than usual, it will still probably be one of the last things to die.

Just got my MBP today and am setting it up as we speak so updating and installing things. Current CPU temperature is 33c and it's been on for about 45 minutes so far.

FWIW I'm on the 2.6GHz cMBP.

Im have the 2.7 GHZ rMBP.

Talked to apple support today, they said might as well bring it in.

More info, with no displays plugged in, and all programs closed, the machine drops to ~40 C.

Simply plugging the external display temp rises to ~55 C.

As soon as I plug in an external display, im stuck on dedicated graphics.

Do others see the same thing?

The initial 40C seems quite reasonable.
