Apple Watch will have a Temp sensor, Apple marketed this heavily at the females due to the menstrual cycle tracking feature. For us men will it show our body temp? I have Series 4 and I quite keen on my health and would upgrade if there is a use for the temp sensor outside menstrual cycle tracking feature.

Thanks!

I think it is one for the future to work in tandem with other sensors and software

Yes it will track temps for everyone. I think it will be up to third parties to decide how this data is used.

Ok interesting. I guess it does not offer much yet instead of a temp. Would be awesome if it could detect like an upcoming illness etc. May give it a miss and spend another year with my Series 4.

Not sure what you’re expecting out of this thing. A notification that says, you got the flu coming up in two days? That’s not reasonable for a sensor in its infancy stage. Does any thermometer really provide that kind of granular information?

Take the totality of the readings from all the sensors, plus the way you feel and you can deduce that on your own I’m sure. I know when I’m getting sick and don’t even need those sensors to discuss this with me. This temp sensor is just a welcome added bonus the way I see it.

It aids in sleep tracking for men (you can see this in the iOS 16 health app). That's pretty much it.

According to this Apple help article the temperature sensor doesn't even factor into sleep tracking. It only will display temperature deviations in the health app, the actual data isn't used for anything for men.

I wonder if third party developers can take advantage of it for other uses.

It's probably something coming in a future watchOS version once Apple feels comfortable with the algorithm providing accurate enough data (and the FDA would need to approve such a use, as well).
