Yesterday on the way home I inadvertently pressed some button combo which locked my phone for a minute. What's the combo and the purpose for this? Thanks

This happens to me a lot when my 15 month old picks up my phone and starts hitting random numbers on the pin code entry screen. It basically just locks out pin entry after so many failed attempts and the length of time its disabled for increases the more incorrect pins are entered without the correct one being entered.

Thankfully my toddler has not quite managed to hit this length of time as yet :-

Weird because this wasn't a failed attempt on unlocking it. Was in my pocket, took it out and saw the message.

Also: is Face ID turned on?

There is the SOS mode where you press power (aka side) button with volume button simultaneously, but will get a screen that says nothing about lock out. If accidentally tap the cancel icon while pulling from pocket, will get the standard "Enter passcode" screen/prompt.

Seen people accidentally turn on SOS mode when grabbing the head of the phone, but like I said, it's a whole different screen than reported.

As mentioned I just took it out my pocket and saw an iphone disabled message which locked me out for one minute, maybe it tried unlocking in my pocket as I took it out and failed multiple times? It wasn't the SOS screen either.

It was just a weird screen I haven't seen before.

Yep....thats just the screen following a number of failed pin code attempts. Must have caught it in your pocket or something like that. Resets after a correct PIN is entered.
