It’s astonishing how companies spend their resources on completely useless innovations.
What determines uselessness? Some people who don't have a use for something? Most things out there are useless in that sense.

I never-ever used my extension cord, I always plug it in directly, such a waste to include the extension cord with Macs (If they still do).
At the same time, there are probably plenty of people who have and do use it, and find it quite useful.

For any one who frequently has difficulties finding a place to plug in their laptop, this will be great, but a voltage detector pen can be had for under $10 and is a good tool to own for other reasons. Just buy one of those and add it to your laptop bag. Shouldn't be too awkward to work the pen whilst plugging in the laptop.

Clever idea, but not “must-have”. Not something I’d deliberately spend $35 on.

Now, if it came bundled with a replacement power supply or a new laptop then it would certainly be “nice to have”.

That was a bit of a change for me going from my grounded plug MacBook Air to my MBP which only has 2 prongs. You can run your fingers along the metal body and it feels different when plugged in. Drove me nuts how the case seem to "vibrate" -- eventually bing'ed the problem and ... oh, plug only has 2 prongs. Unplugged my MBP and it didn't "vibrate" as I ran my finger along the metal body. lol.

I am glad to see that I am not the only one who feels that "vibration" when the power supply is ungrounded. It happens also with the Apple chargers and many other USB chargers on the iPad, iPhone, etc.

This is brilliant! Love it! But not worth $35 to me, since that part of the power cord is not the faulty part. Apple needs to get their head out of their asses and fix the OTHER side of the power adapter. That's the one that fails! So annoyed at Apple's arrogance with this particular part. Same design, with a known flaw, for years and years and years! At least the switch to USB Type C has addressed this, indirectly, but sadly drops the MagSafe connector.
