It's too bad that the good old Spotify app no longer works in Mac OS X 10.5.8. I try de webplayer in TenFourFox. But also, no signal. Is there a solution for this? I hope so!

Yeah, I don't think this would be at all possible because I'm pretty sure that the DRM technology they use is proprietary, and definitely not something TenFourFox devs could implement without licensing it.

Google Play Music. :)

No, not that junk.

Good old fashioned .mp3s from ripped CDs. (tm)

Streamers such as Spotify are nice, but I've been living all this time perfectly well off of my own local library, and so has everybody else for the last 70+ years. And in this fashion, PowerPC Macs will always excel in playing local music, and nothing will change that. It's this newfangled, bloated, web-based crap that's always degrading them. It degrades and obseleteifies everything it touches. F it.

I use my own library and a $12/yr Subsonic account to stream music from my server to all of my devices. For iPad and iPhone, I use the iSub app. For PowerPC Macs, I use jamstash.com within a TFF Box. Spotify on PPC will be missed, but I have alternatives :)

:D

My library resides on a PC running iTunes that connects to Google Music. Everything in my library is what is on Google Play for me. I use Google Music for my library not streaming.

Oh.

I wouldn't know.

But it's still junk because it's Google. They sell your data.

I've heard they sell my data, which is why I give them as little as possible. But the products are still very useful to me so I don't consider them junk.

I've been able to maintain contacts and calendars across iOS devices that are not PowerPC compatible (no iCloud) because of Google. Google is still PowerPC friendly and it's cross platform.

And while I have a Gmail address, it's not used for anything serious. I have other addresses for that.

So your junk is my treasure.

The sad truth...

I looked into that. Sounds interesting. Even can run from a RaspberryPie.
I only don't know what machine to put to work as an server. My ideal candidate would be a broken MBP from 2007 as headless server but I think it wouldn't even boot with the broken graphic's chip.

Make sure it's energy efficient.
