I've seen reviews and ads online for these two and wonder how they compare with the standard terminal.
For the most part, I wanted to install TotalTerminal that slides down a terminal windows from the top at the press of a hotkey. But sadly TotalTerminal is not supported anymore. So if I want that option, I would have to go with one of these.

Looking at the reviews, they do have more features, somehow I am not seeing how these could be better in terms of actual functionality; especially when compared with the standard terminal app.

iTerm is much more customizable. It has things like the tab title changing color when new output arrives. Or the ability to split screens with separate sessions in them. Or compatibility with tmux. Really, Terminal.app is quite basic compared to that.
