    Hi,

When I open up terminal, the prompt looks like:

    firstname-lastname-iMac:~ username$

Is there a way to change the firstname-lastname part of it? It looks silly hehe.

That's taken from your user name. Create a new user with the name you prefer, or get used to it. Do NOT change the name of your home directory.

You can change the hostname under the Sharing Preference pane in System Preferences. :p

My bad. Eidorian is correct. I wasn't keying in on the hostname, just the username.

I usually use The Unarchiver or UnRarX for my GUI decompression.

shift + command + 4 a cross hair will appear that you just drag around what you want to take the screenshot off

shift + command + 3 for full screen

What a lot of us use for screenshots is Skitch. You'll love it!
