macOS terminal help

i am entering a command in terminal that requires my password but when it tells me to enter my password it wont let me type. I have tried it a number of times. Can anyone help?

Your keys are being typed it just doesn't show you any feedback. So just type your password in and hit return. You follow?

you shouldnt be using sudo if you dont know that it doesnt show you typing.

Did you ever use sudo the first time, when you were new to unix, and wonder why the cursor was not advancing? Give 'em a break.
