is there a quick keyboard shortcut that pops up a terminal window?
In OS X without X11 launched, no...
But, you can install this freeware:
And it will let you assign hotkeys to launch any apps, including the terminal.app Aqua interface.
could always use the voice commands. Yell at your computer like the abusive father you never were.
Ctrl+space ter enter FTW!
I nearly spit out my coffee on my machine, you wicked, wicked, guy
I'm a keyboard guy myself, so I usually just do Command-Shift-A, followed by U, Command-down arrow (now in Utilities Dir), then Ter, Command-down arrow. Sounds like a pain but that's how I launch all my apps. I rarely use the mouse now. Very quick and painless
You know Cmd-Shift-U takes you straight to the Utilities directory right? Then it's just Cmd-Shift-U Term.
Only works if Finder/desktop is selected first.
Same with Cmd-Shift-A.

Sorry, I tried to quote both posts
Command + Space Bar, "Term", down arrow, enter
