I'm a keyboard guy myself, so I usually just do Command-Shift-A, followed by U, Command-down arrow (now in Utilities Dir), then Ter, Command-down arrow. Sounds like a pain but that's how I launch all my apps. I rarely use the mouse now. Very quick and painless

You know Cmd-Shift-U takes you straight to the Utilities directory right? Then it's just Cmd-Shift-U Term.

Same with Cmd-Shift-A.

Sorry, I tried to quote both posts 😉
