I was trying to find my ip address on my macbook and forum suggested going to terminal.

Did that but when I click to open there is nothing in the window except some text.

What am I doing wrong? thank you.

Type “ipconfig getifaddr en0” for an ethernet connection, or "ipconfig getifaddr en1" for wireless, and press Return. Don't type the quotes.

iStat Pro will also show your IP address, both internal and external.
