I just got my new 2020 Air today and I was shocked at how much worse it is than my 2014 MacBook Air. I thought it was a faulty camera because it is so staticky, noisy, or whatever you want to call it.

I am not picky with cameras AT ALL, but it seriously looks like a defective camera... except it isn't, because we ordered two 2020 MBA and they are exactly the same.

I am honestly embarrassed to use this tomorrow for work - it's that bad. If it was "smoother" and not as staticky, I would be fine with it. I can take **** quality, just not the static.

Forgive my rudimentary photography terminology. I have no interest in photography or cameras, so that should tell you how bad it is that I'm even noticing this.

Are you going to return it?

Wound up switching to a Pro because I wanted something a little more capable of the workload I have, but I don't see any difference with the MacBook Pro's camera to be honest. They are equally as bad to my eyes anyway.

I use my iPad for that (always have since 2012). The most convenient device for conference calls with a decent front camera.

I never did conference calls before having to out of necessity with this pandemic. I've condensed my devices down to a laptop and a phone, so not wanting to buy an iPad. I guess it is what it is as far as the camera quality... at least I won't be watching myself.
