I have to be missing something here, and am looking for some help.

I just picked up a Mac Mini base, and connected it to one of my monitors on my current PC dual monitor set-up (NVIDIA GForce 9800GT graphic card). I am usuing 2 HP w2207h, both set on 1680x1050, and I hooked the Mini up using an HDMI cable.

Side by side the Mini looks absolutely terrible, as the font seems way off, and not nearly as crisp as the PC. My graphics card isn't all that new, so is the base Mini card just that bad? I switched HDMI cables, switched monitors, changed the monitior settings, but in the end, no luck the font/images just don't look as clear.

    Any advice?

I think I fixed it on my own, turns out there was a small amount of Underscan being applied.....turning it to OFF made a huge difference.

I had kind of the same issue. When i first started using my Mac mini, I noticed some annoying pixellation on my 1680x1050 monitor (especially with text). I wound up getting an LG IPS231 1920x1080 monitor which has made a world of difference.

What made the biggest difference, the jump up to 1920x1080?

That and the pixel density of the new monitor. Its a 23" monitor as opposed to a 22" running 1650x1080. I know it doesn't seem like much, but the improvement in quality was obvious to me. Now it pales in comparison to the new iPad I have in a HoverBar next to my monitor, but the pixellation of text has stopped annoying me with the 23" monitor.

The IPS231 monitor is fairly cheap right now too: http://www.thenerds.net/LG_ELECTRONICS.LG_Flatron_IPS231B_BN_23_LED_LCD_Monitor.IPS231BBN.html?affid=8
