Tesla is a joke. They have not even made a profit yet and pushed back their 3 or whatever its called. Charging stations are far in between and with a 200 mile range, no thanks. Not to mention that now you have to pay to use them.
Tesla needs to go the way of the dodo bird

I challenge you to provide one shred of proof for any of your claims.

There have been two quarters in which Tesla has made a profit, and they are going to start selling both the Model 3 and the solar roof before the end of the year, two projects they have been pouring R&D money into.

There has been no delay with the Model 3. Elon set what he called an impossible goal to have the entire supply chain in place by the end of July. They are on track to make the first deliveries in July, and there are rumors that there could be as many as several thousand ready for delivery in July. Musk also accelerated his goal for the production ramp up to 10,000 units per week from the end of 2020 to the end of 2018.

Superchargers cover the range of the entire United States and are going to double in the next few years. Free supercharging was never promised forever, but all cars sold as of now still have it. Even if you have to pay for it, it's at most half the cost of gasoline. Destination chargers are even more common and are often free.

In short, if you're going to bash something, educate yourself first and stop spreading lies.

This is really a great move and people viewing it as trivial and silly are missing the point. We're moving toward level five autonomous vehicles and Tesla is fully on board. We will reach a point (in the not too distant future) where vehicles won't have any driving controls in the cabin. People won't care about horsepower, handling, etc... when a computer is driving for them. Soon choosing a car will be all about the cabin experience. Focusing on things like streaming is skating where the puck is headed; a vehicle experience that is about comfort, entertainment, and productivity while in motion rather than motors and suspension.
This is the best argument in favor that I've seen. Maybe there's something to it.

From my point of view, I see a handful of tech companies that have lost focus on their competitive advantage and are making ego plays into each other's space. Apple, Google, Amazon, now Tesla.

Seems to me that a deal for a custom branded service for Tesla would be a nice score for Spotify or even Tidal.

Your comment changes that perspective a bit. As you phrase it, this pretty much would be Tesla's competitive advantage. Something to think about...

I like most of what Tesla is doing but they need to release a few times first. Creating a new OS is hard work. I'm not sure they are equipped for this tbqh. I think they may be underestimating the software challenge simply because they are in the business of building the next generation of cars.

If Tesla and SpaceX let other companies do the other work, then they would be like Ford (slow to roll out anything) or NASA (300 million to launch a rocket instead of $30 million).
Tesla is amazing, let them do things Elon's way!!!

I mostly agree. But another subscription just for use the car? And then when you step out you have to switch to a different service with different playlists and favorites and bills?

And Apple should stay out of the car manufacturing business.

As usual, Apple has patiently been studying the transportation problem. One of the key things that they have seen is the massive losses that Tesla has been suffering, and how difficult it is to scale up manufacturing. They've also seen that the major car companies haven't simply been standing by, but have been developing their own electric cars and are coming on line which will put Tesla in an even more precarious position. Many have falsely assumed that the only two options are for Apple to make a car for sale or to license the software, when neither is likely.

Looking at Apple's partial ownership of the world's two largest ride sharing companies (Uber and Didi), and it's own huge investment is self-driving technology suggests a possible scenario where Apple is most interested in developing self-driving cars as a service where Apple would use an existing car manufacturer to produce an Apple designed car that you could request when you needed a ride. It would provide an Apple type experience, integration, augmented reality, sound, privacy, etc., and Apple wouldn't need to develop dealer network, warranty headaches, etc., etc.

So ridiculous. How many effing streaming music platforms do we need?? Spotify has it all, why do companies always need to reinvent a wheel that has already been invented and working great?

Tesla is going to be the #1 name in transportation and energy of the future. While it's good that they're thinking ahead about integrating services but music streaming seems petty when they're known for tackling big challenges. Hopefully, it'll be something that engages the brain rather than passive listening.

I think they should just stick to making cars. Let other companies worry about in-car entertainment.
You could say the same about Apple, they should stick to making Computers phones and let other companies worry about in car entertainment.:D
