Test 2nd HD unibody mbp

Is it possible for me to test if my mbp will take the harddrive I have laying around as a 2nd drive by plunging it where the optical drive goes? Or do I have to buy a special bracket and then test it out?

Since you need to dismantle your MBP to some degree to access the optical drive and do that while its upside down. I'm not sure how feasible or recommended it would be to try to turn it on without securing everything again before flipping it over.

Just saying, OWC offers a optical drive replacement thats only about 70$.

I own one and can say that it fits very well and is also very sturdy.
