Dur hurr...I R baboon.

33,100

Not bad I guess.

Though, as they say, it's not the size that matters, it's what you do with it. ;)

25,900 for me. According to their chart that drops me at age 24-25; I am 22, so that is pretty close. Seems like I should go back to reading books again to bump my vocabulary!

34,400 words. Meh...I only use 1000 so what a waste.:p How often would I use sobriquet (if you've read Oliver Twist, you've seen that word;))? I've never used it in any conversation or written it (except now). I know it, but never use it. I prefer the more commonly used nickname.

I got 33,400. This test isn't very accurate though. Knowing a word and being able to perceive it's meaning by understanding context are two very different things. There were plenty of words in the list that I didn't know but had they been placed in a book I could quite easily infer their basic meaning and apply them to the story.

8390 for me. Apparently, that is well above the average of foreign speakers.

Indeed. Even people who speak English as their first language generally only use a couple thousand words on a daily basis. Most of the rest is just fluff, or jargon.

Being a bibliophile, I can say that most of my vocabulary stems from reading, and while one picks up lots of unusual words that way one certainly doesn't use all of them with any regularity.

I am not a native speaker heck I am Hungarian so completely different from English yet I got 21000 which is not bad if what Hellhammers is saying is correct

21,400 here. I'm not a native speaker, though my test (not sure if the test is always the same) had lots of French words so those were easy. Apparently, I'm close to the average of the native speakers at 24k. But the site states, the participants have a much better knowledge than the expected average.

Cool test :p
