my iPhones have been jailbroken for 2+ years. MyWi works great with my pad 2.

Such an easy solution. and I have NEVER, EVER, been contacted by ATT about usage.
:D:cool:
Me either. That makes like 4 of us in this thread alone.

Yet if you read some of the posts here we are the exception (which is nonsense).

Speeds

I just ran a speedtest.net and here are the results:

Carrier: Softbank Japan
Location: Nasu, Japan
Reception: Full bars
Phone: iPhone 4
Firmware: 5.1
Macbook Pro: 8.1 with 2.3 ghz i5 and 8 GB of RAM

Ping: 404ms
Down: 1.05 Mbps
Up: 0.10 Mbps

That was lame. A one post thread with zero replies on the first of February talking about a message received in December.

If that is the best you can do my point has been made

That was a multi-post thread. Upper right hand link when you select post takes you to the thread. Here: https://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?p=14252361#post14252361

I don't see Dec mentioned anywhere, the guy says "today" which is Feb 1 in that post.

Look, I'm not here to argue, I really don't care about being right or wrong. I used to tether and stopped once I realized I could lose my unlimited. I'd love to do it again. Maybe with the throttling in place I should just throw caution to the wind as the unlimited is for the most part useless anyway.

So now that iPhones and other mobile devices can use so much data on their own stopping tethering does not help the situation much. The only plans capable of really doing harm, without appropriate compensation, are unlimited plans. We had--in some cases have--unlimited iPhone users racking up 10GB, 20GB, 30GB, and more per month. The plans were never designed for that kind of usage and there isn't enough infrastructure to support even 25% of the user base using that much data. Now if they were getting $300 for 30GB of data, sure. And that is exactly what a tiered customer will pay today if they used 30GB in a month on AT&T. The carrier could justify it at that price. But not at $30 per month.

That is why they are targeting unlimited users.

You are just another apologist sheep bowing down to the greed of the likes of AT&T. Listen, the carrier offered unlimited, they ought to honor unlimited and not change the definition of unlimited. It sounds like you are jealous of those of us who have unlimited. If you make a deal, you should stand by your deal. Obviously AT&T is restricting the unlimited users, which they led me to believe in the store was unlimited, pure and unadulterated!!!!!!

Yeah what's up with this? I want to try it out before I throw any money at them.

I have contacted them saying I felt mislead, and that I changed my mind. To remove any of my personal data from any of their systems within reasonable time.

So far they only explained to me that it's not free for iPhone, and that I can unsubscribe from monthly newsletters. Basically refusing to delete my data. Despite various emails.

I feel frauded, tricked and mislead.

Grow up. It's freaking data, which is overwhelmingly is used for entertainment purposes. Only an idiot would have a breakdown over it (and it's not even lost).

And the "apologist" nonsense is just that. If you don't like AT&T, leave. Don't cry like a stuck pig because you can't stream Netflix 24/7 on 3G anymore. Actually, you can: you just need to, you know, actually pay for the data you use.

Due to whiners like you there is almost no chance AT&T will even keep the unlimited plan much longer. You'll need therapy when that happens.

I'm not here to argue about either. And I certainly don't want you to risk it if you feel there is a concern.

You are on unlimited and while I have said I don't think AT&T is going to bother much with throttling now, my main point is that I feel they won't do so for tiered plans.

On the other hand with all the complaining going on I don't see unlimited being around for much longer anyway. I wouldn't doubt if AT&T just said it's too much trouble than it is worth. So there might not be much of a risk in losing something that might be going away anyway.

No... I suggest that you are the immature one, and the one that needs bottle feeding by perhaps AT&T until you grow up and learn to stand up for what is fair.

I was told by AT&T that unlimited meant unlimited when I got the iPhone. Now suddenly it doesn't mean unlimited???? Suddenly i am abusing my data if I go above 3G but the same person next to me using the same data with a 5GB plan isn't abusing his/her data??? Explain to me the logic. You are an apologist and jealous. AT&T mislead everyone on unlimited. If they offered the plan, they should honor the plan, even if it is cheaper. Everything you say below is idiotic. You really are just another lackey that can be steamrolled. Not me!!!!! AT&T lied and I doubt they will get away with it.....

It's idiotic to think I'm "jealous." Over what, cupcake? I have had iPhones since iDay 2007. I am certainly not late for the party that is nearly over.

I am simply realistic about the situation at hand. If you want to put your fingers in your ears and sing the Flintstones theme song go right ahead. But it won't make the unbearable pain of not being able to stream 24/7 go away. Unlimited is going bye-bye. Deal with it.

Michael...
I guess you think it is ok to be misled by a big corporation and their representatives. Me thinks you are jealous of the lousy $20 more you have to pay than I do because I have unlimited... and was promised unlimited.

Who's the idiot?? Better look in the mirror buddy. You won't like what you see...

And why does it mean so much to you that I am unlimited. You appear to be reveling in the fact that people are being screwed by AT&T.....

I signed up and tried the service back on the 11th, it worked. Today I tried using it out in the field and could not get connection between my iPhone and the laptop. I had it up on the iPhone and I had it up on the laptop, but connection failed 50 something times.

I sent an email to cancel out on the service.

Edit: after emailing per the website, I got my $15 refund from paypal and cancelation of future renewal's. I am not sure what went wrong with application but hopefully they get something solid in the future.

Does not work

Did not work iPhone 4s 5.1 no support, no email help no refund support until PayPal dispute. Then an email waste of time.

This is what happens when companies are too restrictive. Others find a way to go around them. I said the same thing about OnLive's service and Microsoft, and it applies here. It's also why we have jailbreaks for iPhones.

Don't get me wrong. I love Apple products, but you squeeze your fists too tightly and things are bound to slip through the cracks.

trust me,if it was up to apple itether would still be in the AppStore. the carriers like verizon and att were giving apple a hard time. the people at tether.com showed to apple exactly what there app did. they accepted it happily
