Google hasn't provided me with any answers to this question, so I'm not hopeful!

Anyway, anyone know if it's possible to install a tether/mywi app on the iPhone via being a member of the Apple iPhone Dev Program? As a member, you can install apps that would not be allowed through the App Store.

This would obviously mean doing it on an unjailbroken phone.

Just jailbreak it?

I was wondering the same thing myself.

It's definitely possible and has been done. There was that flashlight app which had "hidden features" that allowed users to tether their iphones for free. As soon as the news hit apple they pulled the app, but it can be done. I just wish I had the code or knowledge to type the code, and I would definitely become a developer and reap the benefits of free tethering...

Currently a computer science major and learning to program in Objective-C, so hopefully soon I will be able to make this dream come true ;-)

The answer is yes and no really. Being a develop allows you to put apps that aren't in the appstore on your device. The problem is that a lot of the apps in cydia require root access, which you don't get as a developer. You could put an app on that uses private frameworks or something like that, but you couldn't, for example, make MS Extensions or anything like that.
