Tether No Jailbreak

Hi,
I need to be able to tether my 3GS to my laptop. I cannot jailbreak my iPhone because it makes it very unstable, and I need to update from 4.2.1. I have tried to install the profile at http://help.benm.at but it did not work, even atfer a reboot. I also tried to find iTether but Apple pulled it before I could get it and I can't find a cr4cked copy. Does anyone have any ideas? I am currently using MyWi, but it's pretty urgent that I get a fix.

Where did you get the information that once you jailbreak your phone, you make it VERY unstable?

You cant tether unofficially without beeing JB first.
And since you didnt buy itether or handy light you cant install a cracked version on a stock iphone.
