MyWi works great on my jailbroken iPhone 3G. Simple to install, you can find it free if you really want it.

I was looking for a source to create an adhoc-network, but I guess its not that easy. If we can get hold of source code, we can just use iProxy on iPhone and create our own app ( assuming you pay $99 to get a developer license). No source for mywi app either.

Edit: to avoid jailbreaking ofcourse.

I use mywi to tether my 3GS to iPad and it's been wonderful.
I am averaging about 3.8mbps.

The 3G iPad with the black bar on top is ugly.
Plus I don't mind saving 30 additional bucks a month :$

^ yeah I'm hoping the spirit jailbreak is released soon for 3.1.3 3Gs iPhone so that I can get MiWi for that exact reason.

Here's hoping :)

Sounds good. I've been seeing mixed reviews on MyWi. Most of the negative reviews seem to be from 2009 though. Someone posted, here, that you need to jailbreak your iPhone to use MyWi but I so no mention of this on their web site. Is your 3GS jailbroken?
