The following worked on all iOS 6 versions without the need for jailbreaking.

http://www.redmondpie.com/enable-pe...ing-on-iphone-for-free-no-jailbreak-required/

Since iOS 7 is not yet jailbroken, is anyone willing to try this hack to see if we can enable wifi tethering? In particular Verizon users. . .

It would mean upgrading to 7, so I know I might not get a lot of eager testers, unless there is someone out there who is already on 7, or is going to switch to 7 regardless.

Please post your results if you try it!

I'm on VZW and would be interested in knowing if this works. Since I'm jailbroken and installed the Tetherme hack, I've read thatwhenyou restore from a back up, it reinstalls the tether. Some have said it doesn't. I'll probably try this out.

Don't risk your jailbreak.

I'm going to try it myself in the next few minutes. I'll report back.

Didn't work on Verizon.

I can erase the vzwinternet APN, but whenever I copy and paste the APN data from other strings (either "app" or "admin"), and restore, it gives me the same message to contact Verizon for tethering plans.

I'm not sure if I'm pasting the right apn data into what I deleted, but there are no other APN strings.

----------

The only other option I've seen floating around is to call VZW, add tethering option, back up, call VZW, delete tethering option from account, then restore.

But it seems like such a hassle. And I don't want to do anything that might possibly mess up my unlimited data.

the tethering apn is vzwinternet

But, did you buy this program? every time i try to save it, I can only save "vzwinter" and that's it.

Just out of curiosity, do you verizon people have grandfathered unlimited plans? I am on a share everything plan and it does not prompt me to call verizon anymore, it just works. In the past I used tetherme and it was the only reason I had my phone jailbroken, plus one or two tweaks.

Their share everything plans include free tethering

I still want to try this hack on my new 5S. It is really the only feature I miss from my 4S Jailbroken Days.

I am on verizon and have kept my unlimited data through the "use a family member's upgrade" trick

I've been trying to days to figure this out. The problem is it doesn't save to the phone when I restore. I hope someone figures this out.

I don't think you guys will be able to get to enable tethering on a stock iphone without a JB.
Apple has locked out such things prior via many updates.
Its not something you can change and enable without the carriers permission or without having JB your device.

I just upgraded to iOS 7 and lost my jailbreak. Before I upgraded I installed Tetherme and backed up my phone. After installation I restored from my backup and can confirm that tethering is enabled for me.

Yes.
That's one way to do it since the hack carries over from your jb backup.

Is there a way to install TetherMe on a non jailbroken phone? You can go on TPB or any other similar torrent site and download nearly any ipsw you want... but how does a guy install those? I can't remember.

No.
You can't install tetherme on a stock iPhone.

If I download an ipsw for some piece of software that you CAN install on a stock iPhone, how would I go about installing it to said iPhone?

Put it in the appropriate folder so iTunes sees it and sync it to the phone?

you can only install whatever version apple is signing. it's shift + click restore in itunes. at the moment, only iOS 7.0.2 for iphone 4 and up is allowed while 3gs is 6.1.3 and ipad 1 is 5.1.1

Yes, what he said above.
You can download any firmware version you want.
It doesn't mean you will be able to install it.
And you cant install any piece of software to a stock ios besides appstore apps.

I used the wrong term. I meant ipa.

How does one install an application to a stock iPhone. I did some searching on it last night and found out it's a big pain in the ass to do. But it's possible.

Now, where can I get the tetherme ipa?? That seems to be nonexistent. What is a deb file? Surely someone can get tether me into an IPA format.

I don't know why this has to be so difficult.

It's not what you think.
Tetherme modifys system files to enable native tethering. Something that cannot be done on stock iOS via an .ipa install. And .deb files can not be installed without a jb.
Wish it was as easy as you thought.

I have an iPhone5 that was JB 6.1.2 and Tetherme. Backed up, upgraded and restored. No tethering available, says to contact at&t. Was there a secret step I missed?
