Tethering on the iPhone 3GS

If I do the download to get tethering on the iPhone and remove it later, will my Warrenty or Contract be affected in any way?

I have no idea about the warranty, but you're probably not breaking it. You are most like breaching your contract (if with AT&T) by using it. No one knows what AT&T will do to people who are using it

I'm pretty sure AT&T sent out a warning e-mail saying they would do mean things to you if they discovered you tethering.
