yeah it wont work, i changed the settings for internet sharing too. oh well.

wait, now that i think about it, i have the xbox set to manual configuration so when i connect it to the wifi on my macbook it works, and those settings would obviously be different as i'm not going thru my router, so it might still be doable

can we do it???!?!?! YES WE CAN!

yes you could do it... through USB? no... through bluetooth? no... through WiFi ADHOC?? yes! just use a jail broken tool like PDAnet or SOCKS to make your phone a wireless router and connect to it with your xbox360 :D

but.... I would say it would be next to impossible to get it to sign you into Xbox live because of the super crappy upload speeds.

as much as it would be cool to run.. it would be really buggy... and AT&T would send you straight to H-E double hockey sticks if they found out.

Dont do it....Unlike me ;)

I really hope that anyone who tries this incurs massive fees from your carrier. People who try to connect to LIVE with crappy connections totally ruin matches for everyone else. Also, XBOX LIVE is down right now for maintenance, so good luck connecting right now.

Really? 2 Pages and still nobody has flat out pointed out how it obviously wouldn't work? C'mon seriously now, there is absolutely nothing in the Xbox software to support plugging in an iPhone and tethering to it.

You obviously never have played Halo 3 or any other game with mass amounts of players, because this happens all the time.

Wrong, I have. Don't assume. I have never had an issue pinging MSFT's servers, or getting a connection to LIVE (except when it's down for maintenance). And Halo 3 is what I spend 95% of my time on my XBOX playing.

I don't think the 360 could recognize it, my 360 can't even play music from my iphone.

Okay this is how it would work. You hook it up to your computer. Then go to internet sharing in your prefs and turn them on to share your internet through ethernet.
Simple, and effective

This is funny, cause Verizon shut off my Internet today and later claimed that it was just "Static on the line"... Haha, typical Verizon.

But as I sat there trying to play some World at War and not being able to I was seriously contemplating the possibility of this. I decided to just call Verizon.

Yeah, if you have a laptop that boots Windows, it's extremely simple to spit out a wifi connection to your Xbox via a network cable. Look up internet sharing to xbox on google and you'll see very short, easy tutorials. It's possible through Mac OS X but you inevitably will have a NAT address problem and it's more difficult overall. For me, it's worth it just to boot into Windows real fast while using Live.

Plus look at this link for all the naysayers: http://www.2old2play.com/News/Using_ATT__39_s_3g_for_Xbox_Live

Definitely possible and previously done with a Blackberry and AT&T's 3G.

Sure, but this is not tethering the iPhone to the Xbox360.

Tether to comp, make a adhoc network to xbox, internet share it up. GG your tethering to xbox 360 but it gonna blow

Xbox is connected!

Just recently got a tethered iphone to connect my computer via usb and the neighbors unprotected wifi.. This creates two network connections in windows 7.. I then select both with ctrl and right click..and merge connections.. this will create a network bridge... also i changed the ethernet cable that used to come from the modem or router.. directly from my computer to xbox (bypassing the modem & router entirely)..... reset network config on the xbox to default and restart it...

booya... xbox online via iphone usb tethered connection.. and a network bridge..

i was downloading torrents at around 500kb/s but i dont think its adequeate for gaming.. atleast u can get the xbox online to utilize the media center streaming an youtube etc..

I'm not sure if they make wireless adapters for the xbox, but I've used mywi so that my Tivo can connect to the internet and do the initial setup. I dont see why the same wouldnt work with xbox if you have a wireless adapter.

Even if the band with is higher. The ping time over ATT network will be by far higher and it will not work.

in online gaming Ping time is a lot more important than bandwith

This. Ping times are critical to online gaming, average home providers run in the 15-100ms pings, the 3g ping is an abysmal 250+ms.

I've played Black Ops a few times through MyWi. The ping wasn't all that bad but I wouldn't recommend it. I tried it out or curiosity. Live also uses very little bandwidth, I was quiet surprised. Of course a strong upload connection is better than download but overall I was impressed. Wouldn't bother with it again though but I'd still prefer it over any Satellite Internet provider. Hell I don't know how players can expect to video chat or play online with that. You're sending a freakin' signal to space and back, lag much?
