Tethering Without iTunes Installed?

Hi All, Is it at all possible to tether an iPhone without installing iTunes? Tried installing just AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi but still no connection. Have multi boot and didn't want to install 70mb iTunes on every drive.
 
I have a Mac and bluetooth worked fine without iTunes. Connects straight as a network device.
