I use TetherMe to tether my phone.

I turn on the hotspot, (on windows 7), it lists my phone under the available networks, and then it tries to connect but fails; it doesn't even prompt for a password. Doesn't even work with USB tethering.

Any ideas?

I had something similar happen with mine in Win7

for me I was able to connect (with limited connection), in which a quick fix would be to right click the wifi icon in the corner and troubleshoot network problems and that usually fixed it.

with your problem make sure the right security is enabled, maybe go into your actual network "adapters" and remove your phone and try connecting again

do you have to pay extra to use tetherme? as in, will you need to get a separate tethering plan or is this just like myfi?

It's actually 40 a month on sprint. For that price I would just buy a hotspot, but I can't pay that.

As for my iTunes version, I have 10.6.0.40

Trying the windows troubleshooter now...

Edit: That didn't work either. I noticed however that the blue status bar pops up on my iPhone occasionally saying that there is 1 connection.

If it helps at all to know this, it doesn't even get to the point where it prompts me for the password.

And for what .1mb one day and .08 others and if you are lucky to live in a decent area you can get the average .600-.800

Maybe if it was a steady 1.6mb it would be worth it, but for how spotty there 3g is, not really worth it to me either.

New update: I got it to work. I deleted the network settings for it that were known on Windows, and then tried again, it prompted for my pass, and now I'm connected, posting from the connection right now, even if the speeds are a bit slow.
