I hadn't really looked before but I have tethering under my network options... where this worked in the past I am wondering if it is working now too?

I'll have to wait until I get home to plug it into my laptop but was just wondering if everyone else sees tethering but it just doesn't work or something?

What software version are you on? Have you jail broken your phone in the past?

Ya running 3.1.2.. that was the weirdest thing ever... the option was there turned it on and said usb only then plugged it into my macbook and now it's gone... wtf? like tethering option is no longer under networking either.

WEIRD.

Since 3.1 and I believe with the default carrier file this has been happening. This is exactly why I am still on 3.0.1 with a custom IPCC and reluctant to update. There is a thread titled "3.1 Breaks Tethering" that has more info. Try searching for it.

Let me just say, it was so nice yesterday being at my DD's volleyball practice doing emails and such via my iPhone Bluetooth. Hopefully the rumor about AT&T "managing" iPhone data isn't true! I use this feature like twice a month.

As of OS 3.1, tethering is only allowed by officially signed carrier files. Since at this time, Apple is the only group that can sign files - we have to wait for either a clever hacker or Apple to sign a version for AT&T that enables tethering.

I had tethering enabled for a week on my 3GS 3.01 5.5

Its cool and everything, but not being able to update my firmware just for that 1% chance i might need tether is so not worth it.

If i really need to tether, i'll pop my sim in my E71 and tether all day.
