will the internet connection through tethering on the iPhone 3.0 be a fast connection or just be an average one? Lemme know:)

It will be 3G speeds, unless if the speeds are faster than the USB cable can handle.
In that case, the limit will be how fast your USB cable can transfer the data.

Hah. USB 2.0 has a max speed of 480 Mbit/s: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB_2.0#USB_2.0

The fastest 3G connection I've ever got on my iPhone with AT&T was only around 400 kbit/s. Not even if the iPhone was HSPA+ capable (max speed 42 Mbit/s, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HSPA%2B) would it be able to max out the pipe that USB 2.0 provides.

3G speeds depends. 3.6 Mbps with current iPhone 3G and possibly 7.2 Mbps with the next iPhone.

USB 2.0 (current) handles 480 Mbps, which is more or less 470 Mbps more than 3G.

Not even 4G LTE technology can come close to USB 2.0 standard speed. 4G caps at a theoretical 120 Mbps still shy of the 480 Mbps.

Oh and kh14, please change your signature, it's violating the forum rules.

Thanks for you great answer, why post if you have nothing to add?

..pretty sure your lack of a comment breaks the forums rules as well

This is fun, isn't it :D

contradiction? :)

your speed might be a little faster than USB than creating an adhoc wifi network like you do with PDAnet. but i doubt it would be more than 2-5kb/s faster

I find it easier saying +1 agrees with whatever I give that +1 to. I also expect people to understand that it means that.

Edit - BTW, I edited my post to reflect why I agreed/disagreed.
