I am trying to put together a 24-page newsletter using text boxes. They are set in the proper place when I close the document, but when it is reopened the boxes have jumped hither and yon within the document. I've tried grouping them together, etc. but nothing seems to keep them in place. Anyone have some help?

Word is a very blunt instrument when used as a publishing app. However, I am betting that you are performing additional edits between your last textbox placement and saving the file. It is also possible that you are trying to edit the same document on more than one computer. If you have to use Word for your newsletter, you will have to perform your final textbox placement after your final edit. You should also print from the same computer on which you perform your final edit.

If Word is not required for this job, you will find that Apple's Pages is a sharper instrument. It is designed for this task.

I am stuck with Word right now because I am working with another person on a PC. Plan to get InDesign before long, but for now was trying text boxes instead of columns. Editing is done one one computer, but printing is done on a different computer. That is a problem even when using columns. Just thought someone might know more than I do about using text boxes, but it looks as if I'll need to use columns until we can move to InDesign. Thanks for your reply.

So your problem is worse that I thought. Sharing Word files among different versions of the application is asking for trouble. You are going to have to print from the same computer used for your final edit.

Maybe, if you have the option available, try converting the .doc to a pdf. In reader format it "should" be pretty much the same as you saved it no matter what computer you open it in.
