I don't really need an "elaborate" text editor such as Word (on current pc) but I do need something if I purchase a Mac- is there a free text editor on iMac such as wordpad on pc? Thanks.

Good. Thanks for quick response. So if this is a Mac program, I would assume it comes pre-installed or if not, do I have to download it from a 3rd party? Thanks in advance.

It is installed for you in advance... if you want some thing more elaborate later you can always purchase from the apple store and install iWork yourself.

EDIT : I also believe that OpenOffice is available free and has a Mac Version.
