Do you mean a simple text program similar to notepad for Windows?

You could try BBEdit Lite

Taco html edit is amazing and free (see http://tacosw.com/htmledit/) for more details

It's much better than notepad for html as it has a live preview function, a color selecter and does syntax colouring among other things.
