If I try editing some of my text fields, the keyboard will obscure the text field thus making it difficult to know what you've entered.

What is the norm for fixing this? Should I slide the text field above the keyboard? Should my whole view (everything on the screen,) slide up? What have other people done in their applications?

Yes, slide your view up to fit in the space in between the keyboard and status bar (or navigation bar). One of Apple's demos shows how to do this, but you need to watch for notifications of UIKeyboard and then move your view up with an animation of about 0.3 seconds by the keyboard's height (which I think is 216 last time I checked).
