I have fb contacts loaded. I have the option to send a text by going to messages, new, contacts, selecting a contact WITHOUT a published phone and typing a text message. Seems to go somewhere.. No error, but where? They are not in my contacts and have no phone number I'm their Facebook profile... So here does this text go?

i encourage you to try it for yourself and report the results.

my wife is on my facebook, and has an iphone with fb app, and doesn't have her phone number in her profile.

if i turn on only facebook contacts (not icloud, pc, etc)... create a new text message with her as the recipient (if you click contact info, it pulls fb profile), and blast off a text... it goes... and holding her phone in my hand, nothing is received. nothing in facebook, nothing in messaging... no errors, nothing!

fairly certain that imessage requires at least a phone number to complete.

one would think the message would indicate "iMessage" vs the "text message" it indicates.

regardless... even iphone to facebook email (located in facebook contact profile) the message appears to go into an abyss.
