What you're talking about is a basic function of an iPhone (backup/restore)

Boggles my mind that a large portion of the iPhone having population doesn't even know how to use it.

I'll have to admit that I forgot the standard iTunes backup did the SMS log also. I'm so used to iTunes backup sucking in so many other ways, I was confused. ;) Like, for instance, why it keeps backups from months ago, yet often only one from recently, yet iTunes fills my recycle bin with copies of old apps that have been upgraded and I can't officially do anything with the copies.
 
I have an ipod touch.
I'm getting an iphone this morning.
I want everything from my touch onto my iphone.
Do I just sync the new iphone to my itunes and that's it?
Or is there more to it?
I'll be giving the touch to my niece, so I'll only have the phone.
