Text not working right

When my phone is closed and locked incoming text won't make any noise or notification on the screen. I have to turn my phone on to see if anyone has sent me anything.

When I'm on the phone doing something everything works normally. Noise, notification. Etc.

What can I check or change. Thanks

I was going to mention DND, but seems like Bluetooth did it for you? Perhaps it was associated with some device like a watch where the notifications were going to?

No clue. I haven't synced it to anything else other than my car yet.
