Text Notifications even when phone is unlocked? (iOS 10, W OS3)

I'm getting the notification on my Watch when my phone is unlocked. It's pretty annoying.

I didn't have this issue with the series 0 and Watch OS2. I now have Series 2.

Am I alone here?


PS. It also seems to be inconsistent which makes it worse in my opinion.

Several members have reported this bug on wOS1, wOS2 and now wOS3, and also on Series 0. Have you tried restarting both devices and/or unpairing and re-pairing?

Thanks. I tried a re-boot of the Watch first. It seems to have fixed it. Time will tell. Thank you for the input.
