In a Mauve Dream
Hi guys and gals. So I created a play, and half of it is in Spanish. I was hoping to project English text translations for those parts, but I am unsure how. Is this something iMovie 08 can do? I have done a couple of video projects on it, and I must say I dislike the new interface. I could also give Keynote a try.

I just wanted to ask the opinion of more experienced users before I get too far into it. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

I have seen something done in the past like this at a presentation but they were just projecting the words of the speaker. I believe they used Keynote or Powerpoint. The reason I say that is that the slides changed almost perfectly with the speakers words. You could do this with iMovie by creating titles for each slide, but you would have to make sure the timing of each slide was insync with the performers speed of their dialouge.

Good Luck with the play.

You might consider using a slideshow program -- PowerPoint, Keynote, or the free OpenOffice program Impress.

These programs would make it very easy to create the slides and would allow you to control the timing of the advances, since there is no guarantee that the talent will perform the scenes at the same rate every night.

With Keynote (not sure about others) you can export the show to a Quicktime-playable file that will wait for a mouse click before advancing -- helpful if you have to author on one computer and then show on another that isn't Mac or doesn't have the program.
